Meet Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews
A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews graduated from Florida A&M University with a bachelor's degree in music and religion. He furthered his education by earning a master's degree in educational supervision from Florida State University and a Doctorate in Integrated Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois. He currently resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Dr. Andrews' educational career spans 40 years of teaching in public schools—ten years in Florida, ten years in Washington, DC, and 20 years in Prince George's County, Maryland. Throughout his tenure, he served as a music educator and choral director across all three school systems. His academic contributions extend to higher education, having taught as an adjunct professor at both the University of DC and Bowie State University. He continues to publish his musical works through GIA publications (Gregorian Institute of America) in Chicago, Illinois.
Currently serving as the Minister of Music and Arts at Florida Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, DC, Dr. Andrews is also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden International under Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. His ministerial journey began on October 16, 1977, when he was licensed by Rev. Theopolis T. Jackson, pastor of the Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. In March 1984, he was ordained by the New Bethlehem Baptist Association of Northwest Florida. The Florida General Baptist State Convention bestowed upon him an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1983.
Dr. Andrews' musical accomplishments include winning a 2010 Stellar Award and receiving a 2012 Stellar nomination. He was also honored with the Steven Newsome Arts Award in the DMV area. His leadership roles include former Director of Music for the Florida General Baptist State Convention, founder of the award-winning Polk County Mass Choir, and membership in the Florida Mass Choir under Rev. Art Jones. At Oxon Hill High School, where he taught choral and general music, his choir earned numerous awards and became the first high school choir to receive a Stellar Award. Upon his retirement in 2017, the school honored his legacy by naming their new music wing after him.
With over 40 years of membership in the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), Dr. Andrews has served in the academic division for 37 years. He currently holds the position of Administrative Assistant to the dean and received the Dean's Award in 2009. His professional affiliations include faculty membership in the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc., the Hampton's Ministers and Directors and Organist Conference, and the American Choral Director's Association. His arrangement "Over My Head" was performed at the Hampton's Minister's Conference and is now published through GIA publications.
As founder and director of the non-profit Andrews Music and Arts Enterprise, Inc. and Dr. Emory Andrews and Faith, he has expanded his ministry internationally. His recent travels took him and his ministry to Accra, Ghana, where they served and performed for a school housing orphaned youth. Dr. Andrews has conducted workshops, preached, and taught the gospel both nationally and internationally, serving with the Florida General Baptist Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA.
Dr. Andrews lives by the motto passed down from his mother, his first choir director: "If I can help somebody, then my living shall not be in vain."

Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews and Faith
Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews and Faith have had a remarkable journey in their ministry since June 1990, starting at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Washington, DC. Their ministry spans the DMV area and beyond, including travels across the East Coast, two trips to France (Bordeaux and Paris), and most recently, to Ghana, Africa, in August 2024. They recorded their first album entitled, “He did it just for me". After sharing this music with others, they were inspired to produce a second album titled “I Am Blessed”. In 2010, Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews earned a Stellar Award for his recording of “Amazing”, and he received a Stellar nomination in 2012. A live recording took place at Oxon Hill High School in 2014, followed by the release of their single at GMWA in 2017 and their full album, “Have Thine Own Way Lord”, later that year during their 27th anniversary at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Washington, DC. Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews and Faith continue their ministry through song, encouraging believers with their message rooted in scriptures like Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hope for and the evidence of things not seen and Hebrews 11:6, which tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith continues to lift their voices in praise, trusting in God's power and believing wholeheartedly that He never fails, striving always to please Him through their ministry.
